Agricultural research station started in 1963 in western zone of Tamilnadu. This centre released three groundnut varieties and one coconut variety ALR CN1. Coconut research station was started during 1988 and ARS was renamed as Coconut Research Station in 2002. This station also produces quality coconut seedlings (Tall varieties WCT and ALR CN1). These seedlings are preferred by the farmers. The farmers from different parts of the state do visit the station for consulting on coconut cultivation.
