The Agricultural Research Station, Paramakudi is one of the Research stations of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. It was established in the Year 1952 as a Research Station under State Department of Agriculture followed by which it was functioning as paddy research sub centre, state seed farm, multi-crop experiment sub station and then upgraded as Agricultural Research Station by 1981 under TNAU.

The Palar sub basin starts from Muthukulathur block and extends upto Kadaladi block in Ramanathapuram district. The sub basin has 34 Tanks with a total Ayacut area of 3051.05 ha under Non-system category.

Fully irrigated Area : 1731.00 ha
Partially irrigated Area : 953.00 ha
Gap Area : 368.00 ha
Total Registered Ayacut Area : 3051.00 ha
