The Chennai Basin Group of rivers is Araniyar, Kosasthalaiyar, Cooum and Adyar and small minor stream on the southern part of the basin. Under sub basin a total registered ayacut area of 18452.89 ha is reported in Villivakkam, Poonamallee, Kadambathur, blocks of Tiruvallur District and Sriperumpudur, Kattankulathur, St.Thomas Mount and Kundrathur blocks of Kancheepuram District.
